Bubblegum Shawl

Today I wanted to chat a little bit about my Bubblegum Shawl. A lovely little shawl that’s all about mixing textures and yarn bases.

This pattern is included in the newly released book “52 Weeks of Accessories” from Laine Publishing. The publication day was yesterday, Friday February 16th and you now order your copy from Laine! Or find the book in your local yarn shop! There’s also the option for an e-Book, if you prefer that. But let me just say it’s a book not to be missed! It has so many great designs from so many talented designers. The variety of projects alone is breathtaking. You will find everything from shawls to hats to socks and bags and beyond!

I love the whole series of 52 Weeks books! Everything started with the 52 Weeks of Socks book, the main idea behind the book being a new pair socks for each week of the year. So clever! And so many designs in a single book. 52 Weeks of Socks has since gotten a sequel, Vol. 2, and you can find my Amber Socks included in that one. Then there’s the 52 Weeks of Shawls and 52 Weeks of Easy Knits too! Such a wonderful series altogether! And I’m so honoured to have a designs of mine in quite a few of them.

But now, let’s get back to my Bubblegum Shawl!

The shawl itself is a simple one: a triangle with sequence of two-colour brioche and garter stitch ridges. What makes it so special is the use of Silk Mohair as the main yarn for all the garter stitch and fingering weight yarns for the brioche. I love to see those airy bits of garter stitch as the frame of this shawl.

Bubblegum Shawl is knitted in Aara Yarn and the colours are simply amazing! I love that mix of hot pink and electric blue and then a bit of pale peach-y pink to tie everything together! You can find this yarn from Ilo Yarn and there’s even a 14% discount on these yarn bases, Mieli and Hieno, until February 19th! Use code ASUSTEET for the discount!

I would love to knit another variation of this shawl myself - i’m already picturing either neon colours or pastel colours for my second one…
