Thinking Back
The post from a few days ago about my latest collaboration with Aara Yarn made me think back to our first collaboration ever: Linnaea Shawl!
This was in year 2019, when Aara was just starting and taking shape. Oh, how things have evolved since! So many bases, so many colors and so many collaborations! And this being their fifth year of existence, why not take a look back to the point when it all started.
Their story started properly at Jyväskylä Knit Fest 2019, where the yarns were presented for the first time and also where this shawl was released! Almost every year since we have been collaborating, if not for the Jyväskylä Knit Fest, then for another event or a collection. You might remember the Electric Sweater from last year, my various designs in Interpretations in Aara and quite a few ones for various other books!
I can really say that Aara is my go-to yarn for almost everything.
The Linnaea Shawl was designed with the merino sock yarn base Mieli - a base that is still very much going strong and you can still find at least some of these original colors (hello pink color called Ilta, a complete classic!). I wanted to mix in quite a few different textures to best showcase these lovely, lovely colors. You can find a little garter stitch, some easy brioche and no lace for this one. I still feel that this shawl is every bit relevant as it was five years ago! I’m even a bit tempted to make another in just one single color!
Now to celebrate these five years and all the collaborations there’s a little sale for the Linnaea Shawl! Use code REMEMBERWHEN to enjoy a 20% discount on Linnaea Shawl! The sale continues until the end of Sunday, July 14th, 2024, (Helsinki time).
Can’t wait to knit more with Aara Yarn!
