January Projects
This January has been all about knitting! I feel like I’ve been sitting on the sofa with a project on my hands for the majority of this month. And all the remaining times I’ve been in front of the computer. Life sometimes works that way I guess?
It has been a cold month, too cold to my taste, and very snowy for most of it. I don’t even remember having these high mountains of snow that we have been shovelling to keep our driveway clear. Now would be the perfect time to enjoy all the snow sports, but sadly I haven’t done any. But at least the snow mountains in our yard prove that I have been leaving the house occasionally, if not that often.
I have been knitting quite a few things. Firstly and probably most importantly, I have been working on my Monday Love Dress. This is a sister project to one of my all-time favourite designs ever: Sunday Love Sweater. That dream of DK weight boucle and silk-mohair held together is the ultimate yarn combination to me right now. And I have been living in my Sunday Love ever since the cold spell hit - and probably even before that.
But I’m slowly realising that it’s a good thing to maybe wear different sweaters and not just that single one day after day, week after week. Now I’m closing to the phrase month after month… No sweater will take that! And no sweater will clean itself that completely. So that’s why Monday Love was started. And now that it’s off the needles I know I’m in love! It’s seriously lovely. Warm, soft, light and did I mention warm?!
Second big thing on the needles is my Popsicle Sweater. This lovely stranded colorwork sweater is a collaboration with Botanical Yarn and the pattern will go live at Unravel Festival in February. It’s been a few years since I attended that lovely lovely yarn fest, but would love to go again! And at least my sweater will be there celebrating.
Then of course there have been a few cast-on’s for new beanies (you can never have too many beanies!). Loving them both, one with cables and one with basic 2 x 2 ribbing. But oh they are both so nice!
Tell me, what have you been knitting this January?
