Azores Shawl is an ode to brioche texture! The single-color brioche rib is paired with some syncopated brioche and of course a little garter stitch! Why? Because you always need a bit of garter stitch in everything!
This shawl is perfect for many different yarn choices and colors. For the original i used 2 skeins of Linha Doce’s Cotton Candy, a baby alpaca and silk fluff, paired with a skein of single ply merino.
The Azores Shawl is designed especially for the Maria G Knits Azores Knitting Retreat 2024.
MATERIALS
Yarn: 2 skeins of Candy Fluff by Linha Doce (63% Baby Alpaca, 30% Silk, 7% Merino; 490 yds / 450 m per 100 g), in colorways Enchanted Mist (lilac, C2) and Golden Sands (beige, C3). Or approx. 460 yds / 500 m of lace weight yarn in each C2 and C3.
1 skein of Cupcake by Linha Doce (100% superwash Merino Wool; 400 yds / 365 m per 100 g), in colorway Ivory Blossom (white, C1). Or approx. 365 yds 335 m of fingering weight yarn in C1.
Needles: US 4 (3.5 mm) circular needles, 16” (40 cm) long or longer, if using magic loop method.

Measurements of the finished shawl: Wingspan 95” 240 cmand 21” 53 cm deep at deepest spot.
GAUGE
22 sts and 44 rows = 4” (10 cm) in garter stitch, after blocking.
