Säie Sweater
Here we are, all of a sudden, at the end of summer. It’s the last week of August and all I’ve been doing this month is all kinds of nature adventures. Abroad and in Finland: hiking, backpacking, bike trips… All of it! It’s been glorious, but now it’s about time to settle back into work mode - full force!
Yes, I did release my Marigold sweater earlier this month, figuring out that would take me smoothly back to normal everyday workflow. It didn’t really happen! Yes, I’ve been knitting a lot, working on patterns quite a bit and planning even more. But somehow I don’t feel that I’m over summer yet!
But today it’s all about Säie Sweater! If this doesn’t bring the sweater weather, autumn feel to me, I don’t know what will! It’s all colorwork, circular yoke sweater that has been in the making for quite some time.
Säie Sweater is an ode to the beautiful colors of Säie Wool. I even named the sweater after this lovely yarn company! They absolutely make the most beautiful colors that i’ve been knitting with many times before (and will keep wanting to use probably forever!). I ordered this beautiful selection of colors in DK weight yarn in their early days, wanting to see them all together and quickly realised that these colors would make the most beautiful colorwork sweater combined. Even the colorwork motifs used in this sweater mimic the logo of the yarn studio!
This sweater is worked from the top down in one piece and it features allover colorwork. The DK weight sweater is quite a quick knit and it’s perfect for mixing the single skeins you may already have in your stash. It’s fairly easy to knit as it’s all in the round and all Stockinette stitch, but the allover colorwork makes it such a signature piece in your wardrobe! It’s almost like jewellery!
At least that’s how I often feel about anything with stranded colorwork! The sweater looks “dressy” enough that all it takes is a simple skirt or pair of trousers to make my outfit look stunning! Win-win in my book!
If you also want to knit your Säie Sweater in Säie Wool yarns, they have made a special selection of yarn kits for this pattern! There’s the original color combination (that I still love to this day so much!), and also 4 other possible color options! Find the kits here!
Now I’m off to knit some more and maybe dream about another Säie Sweater for myself!
