Wild Air Sweater
Happy 2025! Can’t quite believe that we are well in another year, another January. I’m happy that my little journal has been steadily happening, even if it’s a bit quiet and there’s no real schedule on my journal entries here. But hey are happening, from time to time and especially I enjoy writing a bit about each of my new pattern release.
I’d love to spend more time writing this year and writing especially here on my journal. So here’s to another year of old fashioned blogging that hopefully evolves to something more modern on the way.
In general, I have many things going on this year. It looks like another big year of traveling: yarn events and retreats are guiding a lot of my yearly schedule. That’s why I also wanted to create an Events sub-section here on my website! Just so that I can more easily keep you informed on all the places you can find me - if I ever happen to come near your neck of woods!
But to kick things off in a happy way, let me introduce you to my first pattern release of the year: Wild Air Sweater!
It’s now my favourite everyday sweater! I’m going to basically live in it this winter. Just seeing this colour combo and all the twists and turns of the silk mohair always make me happy. Wild Air is the perfect comfy sweater to wear over dresses and jeans and even tights - at least in my opinion!
Wild Air Sweater is knitted from top down in one piece, starting with the back, shaped with short rows. Stitches are then picked up for each shoulder and joined for front. Lower body is worked in the round. the sleeves have a slight tapered shape and cuffs that are just loose enough. All edges are bound off with stylish tubular or Italian bind off.
I highly recommend trying out different yarn combinations for this one! Use your favourite fingering weight yarn held together with a fun Silk-Mohair of Suri Alpaca fluff - or go with a DK weight yarn single stranded. The 22 sts gauge gives you plenty of room for different options, so don’t be shy and try out even the unusual combinations! I love to see these fun pooling effects that we have now as well as al the marled possibilities.
Since it’s a pattern release week and I want to celebrate, there’s of course an introductory sale on Wild Air Sweater pattern: 20% discount until Sunday, January 19th, 2025 (until the end of the day, Helsinki time). Use code WILD20 for the discount!
And I wouldn’t be me if I wasn’t also planning on knitting another one of these… I know that I have absolutely no place knitting anything but my to-do list right now, but a girl can dream, right?!!! I’m thinking of maybe adding some stripes for my next one… or just have fun marling all odds and ends into it!
All this to say that let’s knit Wild Air Sweaters! We all need this sweater in our lives, it’s so much fun. I have nothing but pure love for this one!
